Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD will be coming to a TV screen near you as ABC picks up the Joss Whedon drama based on Marvel Comics’ SHIELD. The series was developed by Joss Whedon, in collaboration with his brother Jed Whedon, and Joss’ sister-in-law Maurissa Tancharoen, and is part of the original deal that Joss agreed to as part of contract with Marvel.
It’s been a long time since I’ve had the pleasure of enjoying a Joss Whedon series so this news gets a big YAY! from me. You may remember Joss from such great shows as Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly and Dollhouse.
Clark Gregg reprises his role of Agent Phil Coulson from Marvel’s feature films as he assembles a small, highly select group of Agents from the worldwide law-enforcement organization known as SHIELD. Together they investigate the new, the strange, and the unknown across the globe, protecting the ordinary from the extraordinary.
Coulson’s team consists of Agent Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), highly trained in combat and espionage, Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen, Stargate Universe and Eureka) expert pilot and martial artist, Agent Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker); brilliant engineer and Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) genius bio-chemist. Joining them on their journey into mystery is new recruit and computer hacker Skye (Chloe Bennet).
