Having failed in my attempts to buy enough provisions – that’s what we’re calling shopping now thanks to the Covid-19 pandemic – the last time I ventured out to the supermarket, I felt the urgent need to stock up the cupboards today.
Armed with my shopping list of necessities and with no intention of stockpiling I drove to the supermarket and parked up. I got out of the car, looked at the queue of people social distancing and panicked. It wasn’t a long queue as I came out super early but for some inexplicable reason, I couldn’t face joining these people in the shared experience. What if I got into the supermarket and some friendly asshole decided to speak to me?
All these crazy thoughts went swirling around my head until I jumped back into the car and drove to my local corner shop. Here they were only letting people in two at a time and no one had time to look at anyone much less talk. I stopped panicking and bought some bits. Obviously, I didn’t get everything on my list but maybe tomorrow I’ll try the supermarket thing again. Meanwhile, alcohol is a thing.
Note to self: watch more animal videos and read less about the pandemic.
