Xena: Warrior Princess – A Comedy of Eros review

10 February, 2008 by PashaO

Season 2, episode 22

Draco is threatening to sell some temple maidens into slavery and Xena is trying to stop him. Trouble is, she’s also falling in love with him. Meanwhile (and just as strange), Gabrielle is falling for Joxer.

This episode is called ‘A Comedy of Eros’ and naturally it is a comedy. The god Cupid is  trying to get his small son to sleep so he can mack on his wife Psyche.  Bliss isn’t sleepy and when his father leaves the room, he decides to go out to play with his dad’s love bow. He comes across a village and starts shooting arrows into random people. Once shot with an arrow, people fall in love with the first person they see. In Gabrielle’s case it was Joxer and in Xena’s case it was Draco.

Draco happens to be in town because he has plans to sell the local temple maids into slavery. Xena is there to stop him.

I’m not sure about this one. I like the idea of Draco being left in love with Gabrielle. Gabrielle in love with Joxer didn’t work for me. Xena in love with Joxer would have been hilarious and far less obvious.
