Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is coming

16 May, 2020 by PashaO
Star Trek Strange New Worlds

Following a successful debut in season two of Star Trek: Discovery, Hanson Mount, Rebecca Romijn and Ethan Peck are set to star in their own series, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

CBS All Access has picked up the new series making it the third full live-action show in the Alex Kurtzman-pioneered TrekVerse after Star Trek: Discovery and Star Trek: Picard.

The announcement for the new series was made in a video released by Paramount.

The new series will take the trio of Pike, Number One and Spock and the USS Enterprise almost right up to the leadership of Captain Kirk. I’m extremely excited about this news as I was one of the fans clamouring for a spinoff. Hanson Mount’s Captain Pike is such a compelling character it would have been a shame to let his portrayal be a one-season outing.

“Fans fell in love with Anson Mount, Rebecca Romijn and Ethan Peck’s portrayals of these iconic characters when they were first introduced on Star Trek Discovery last season,” CBS All Access’ Head of Programming Julie McNamara said. “This new series will be a perfect complement to the franchise, bringing a whole new perspective and series of adventures to Star Trek.”

“When we said we heard the fans’ outpouring of love for Pike, Number One and Spock when they boarded Star Trek: Discovery last season, we meant it,” executive producer, Alex Kurtzman claimed. “These iconic characters have a deep history in Star Trek canon, yet so much of their stories have yet to be told.”

As Covid-19 rampages through the globe, most of Hollywood is still in lockdown so there is no set date as to when Strange New Worlds will make its debut.
