The Walking Dead: Darol and Carol to get a spin-off series

The walking dead, daryl carol spin-off

As fans of The Walking Dead come to terms with the reality that AMC’s long-running zombie series will end in late 2022, they can at least find some comfort in the knowledge that the Deadverse will continue with a new program devoted to two of its most beloved characters.

At the start of season 10, we saw Daryl Dixon and Carl Peletier joke about riding off into the sunset on Daryl’s motorbike, which would have been a shipper’s dream. Sometimes dreams do come true. According to Deadline, AMC has greenlit a TWD spin-off focusing on Norman Reedus’ Daryl and Melissa McBride’s Carol.  The two characters have been in the series from the beginning, proving they know how to survive a zombie apocalypse.

The yet to be titled series will debut in 2023. The show was created by The Walking Dead’s chief content officer Scott M Gimple and current TWD showrunner Angela Kang, who will act as showrunner on the new series.

The Walking Dead will end after an extended season 11 that will include 24 episodes, including the COVID-delayed season 10 finale on Oct. 4 and six bonus episodes for season 10 airing in early 2021. The show has 31 episodes left to air before it ends!

In addition to the upcoming Daryl and Carol series, current spinoffs Fear the Walking Dead, starting its sixth season on 11 October, and the 4 October premiering two-season long The Walking Dead: World Beyond. AMC and Gimple are also developing a Tales of The Walking Dead anthology series, which will be episodic. The series will likely focus on individual characters from the expanding Deadverse, both new and old.

TWD Negan or Maggie spin-off

There are also rumours that a Negan or Maggie show is in the works. Lauren Cohan, who left The Walking Dead in 2018 for ABC’s short-lived Whiskey Cavalier, is returning to TWD to play Maggie for the remainder of the 10th and likely 11th seasons.

Negan, played famously by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, has changed from being a murderous villain to becoming an integral member of the Survivors. That’s a spin-off story arc in the making right there!

Fans also have the three Rick Grimes films starring Andrew Lincoln to look forward to. As the original series ends, the Deadverse remains very much alive.
