Gabrielle, the Prodigal returns to her home town, only to find it under attack by a greedy warlord. She enlists the help of a drunken warrior who’s lost his self-confidence. Meet Meleager the Mighty.
This episode reminded me of the old movie “Cat Balou” with Meleager as the Lee Marvin character with a drinking problem. (Showing my age).
This episode was another chance for Gabrielle to shine by herself. This is a lot better than “Athens City..” Hands up all those who expected Meleager to take the money and run? Well, I didn’t! That would have been way too obvious.
At this point, it’s still quite easy for Gabrielle to leave Xena. I guess she doesn’t realise just how important she has become to Xena.
