Scottish writer Steven Moffat was celebrating after he picked up the Special Award at the 2012 British Academy Television Awards in London.
Mr Moffat, who has written and produced episodes of both Doctor Who and Sherlock, said he was delighted to be a winner.
Mr Moffat was presented with the award by the Sherlock actor Benedict Cumberbatch and Doctor Who star Matt Smith.
Cumberbatch described Moffat as “a word machine”, saying: “His name is a byword for quality family entertainment”, while Smith said he was “brilliantly cantankerous”.
Series 7 of Dr Who returns to the UK in Autumn with five episodes including the Christmas Special. Seems such a long way off.
