Retail activity and age rating listings indicate that the next entry in the God of War franchise could be released as early as September.
Sony doesn’t have any first-party games with a confirmed release date, and the only one that’s guaranteed to be out this year is God Of War: Ragnarök, which many fear will get delayed.
While the developers have insisted it won’t happen, that doesn’t necessarily mean it won’t happen. The South Korean ratings board has already rated it, which might make a difference.
It only ever happens close to release, when the game is already done or almost finished, and may even mean it will be released in late summer rather than autumn as assumed.
According to a popular theory, the game will be released on 30 September, since that is the date listed in the PlayStation database.
That does seem like a placeholder date since it is the last day of the third quarter and the last day of the month.
VGC notes that retailer Geeky Zone uses the same date to release a wave of new merchandise, including T-shirts, hoodies, and plush toys.
The shop could simply be guessing or merely following the PlayStation database date, but at the moment, everything indicates that the game will be released this year.
