As I wriggle around in anticipation of this week’s penultimate Scandal episode Any Questions I’m focusing on the the BIG questions: Who is the mole? Will Olitz really commit to their relationship or will duty get in the way? The promo video doesn’t give anything away save to say that Huck knows who the mole is and Liv and the Prez are playing booty catch up.
In last week’s episode A Woman Scorned the gladiators and Jake Ballard tried to convince Olivia that Cyrus is the mole. I’m with Olivia on this, Cyrus cannot be the mole.
The gladiators have no hidden agenda so arrived at their conclusion with no malice but with not much information. The mole can only be someone in the top echelons of President’ Grant’s administration. That would be, The Prez, the Vice Prez, Cyrus and the head of either CIA or Defence (I didn’t catch that last part). The shady, sneaky, spying, lying Jake Ballard on the other hand latches on to Cyrus as the mole as a way of throwing Olivia off balance. After waking up with concussion to find out that your sometime boyfriend is spying on you using the services of a guy you just slept with, Olivia is already off her game.
Jake’s whispers about Cyrus begin to take root in Liv’s mind and that’s sad. Despite the fact that I’m not sure if Cy was thinking of having Olivia killed, I don’t think he is the mole. So based on snippets of information garnered from the Pope’ associates and TV synopsis for episode 221, I’m going to speculate my head off.
TV Guide’s synopsis goes: A major crisis rocks the White House, and Cyrus is caught in the middle of it. Elsewhere, Olivia and her team are the victims of a shocking betrayal. According to TV rage the betrayer is someone close to Olivia.
Does that mean the mole is close as in ex gladiator or newbie gladiator close? Is Stephen the mole? Why did he leave Pope and Associates? Is newbie gladiator David the mole? Neither of these two would have access to the kind of information that would endanger spies abroad. So they have to be working with someone inside Grant’s administration.
What about Senator Edison “That’s twice I’ve offered you this ring and you’ve turned me down” Davis? Hell may hath no fury like a woman scorned but what about a man?
Here’s an out of of space idea: What if Jake’s handler (Joe Morton) is Olivia’s dad? I mean we know nothing about Liv. That would be some major betrayal right there. Close doesn’t have to me friends or associates close, it could me family member close right? I’m reaching, but it’s exciting to think that one of these or none of these is even close to what the writers have come up with.
Whoever the mole is, they are clearly not operating alone. I believe Sally Langston is at the heart of it. What do you think?
