A video that surfaced online this week shows Ezra Miller appearing to choke a woman in Reykjavik, Iceland.
There is confusion online about whether the video was a joke, but that hasn’t stopped people from posting memes on Twitter, where Miller’s name has been trending.
Variety spoke to someone at the bar where these events took place, Priki’s Kaffih’s, who confirmed that the incident at the bar was a serious altercation. The man they identify as Miller was escorted from the establishment.
In the seven-second video, a man can be heard asking, “Oh, you wanna fight? That’s what you wanna do? This question was aimed at a young woman who appears to be jokingly preparing herself for a fight and smiling as she is doing so.
Miller then grabs the girl by the throat and throws her to the ground. After that, the person filming says, “Woah, bro. Bro,” and stops shooting, with the footage ending abruptly.
The incident took place around 6pm. On April 1, at Prikið Kaffihús, a trendy bar in central Reykjavik frequented by Miller whenever he is in town.
Reportedly, the altercation occurred after the individual, identified as Miller, was confronted by a group of eager fans who were “quite pushy.” Things escalated with Miller losing his temper toward one specific woman.
Prikið staff escorted the actor, who was upset and angry, off the premises following the incident.
The actor, who was arrested for marijuana possession in 2011, according to TMZ, plays a pivotal role in the Fantastic Beasts franchise. He will play the role of Barry Allen in the DC Comics The Flash film adaptation.
It is still being determined how Warner Bros. will respond and whether or not this will affect the Flash movie, Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, or anything related to the DC Extended Universe as a whole.
